Think the Beach House Inn sounds like a fantastic getaway but worry about how to get to Santa Barbara? We have good news. Santa Barbara is easily accessible via many transportation methods. Thanks to the good folks at American Airlines and Southwest Airlines it has gotten even easier to get here from out of state.
Flying is almost like a type of magic. You get on the plane and within a couple of hours you have jumped time zones. Nonstop flights are offered from the following airports to Santa Barbara Airport:
- Chicago (via American Airlines on a new temporary route starting May 8 and continuing through at least September)
- Dallas (via American Airlines)
- Denver (via United Airlines; Southwest will be offering this route starting on April 12)
- Las Vegas (via Southwest starting on April 12)
- Oakland (via Southwest starting on April 12)
- Phoenix (via American Airlines)
- Portland (via Alaska Airlines)
- San Francisco (via United Airlines)
- Seattle (via Alaska Airlines)
An added bonus to flying here is that the inn is only 10 miles from the airport. It’s a quick taxi ride especially if you plan to walk to many attractions. If you want a car while you are here, there are lots of companies where you can rent a car at the airport but we personally recommend the Avis downtown location. They have great rates and are perfect if you need a car for a short while. The owners take extra steps to take care of customers, including once dropping off a car at the inn for one of our guests. There is something romantic and nostalgic about a train ride. When you take the train, the travel feels like an exciting part of the getaway. Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner route boasts a unique view of the ocean during the trip from San Luis Obispo through Santa Barbara and then on to Los Angeles and San Diego. If you choose to ride the entire line, it will take 5 hours and 45 minutes making it a quick and convenient way to travel. The Coast Starlight line travels from Seattle through Portland and on to Los Angeles with breathtaking views of the Cascade Range along the way. Once you arrive at the Santa Barbara train station, the inn is a short eight-minute walk.
Driving is best travel option for those who want to be on their own schedule. It’s also great for those traveling with pets. Don’t forget that we are dog friendly! Once you arrive, we have plenty of free parking out back. We are within a few hours of many major cities:
- Los Angeles, CA – less than 2 hours
- San Diego, CA – 2.5 hours
- San Jose, CA – less than 5 hours
- Las Vegas, NV – 5 hours
- Phoenix, AZ – 7 hours
The Greyhound Bus can be a very economical way to travel. The bus station is less than half a mile from the inn. Depending on the date of your travel, you can take the bus from Los Angeles for $10. A trip from San Francisco can be as little as $32.
What are you waiting for? Santa Barbara is calling and you can be here in a few hours.
